The Arkansas Foodbank is located in Little Rock, Arkansas and started distributing food to Arkansans in 1984. Since then, they have increased their food donations every year, with the goal to donate over 25 million pounds of food in 2016. Last year, Arkansas Foodbank partnered with the Arkansas Rice Depot to help provide even more meals to hungry Arkansans.
Arkansas is the number one state in the country for childhood hunger, as well as "low food security" overall. Over 8% of households in the state are experiencing more severe hunger problems, like "cutting back or skipping meals". Arkansas is number 2 in the United States for people who do not know where their next meal is coming from. We also are the worst state for senior hunger, meaning a quarter of our states senior population are hungry.
